LabCraft has signed a software supply agreement with Adaptec Scientific for integration of Quality Analyst 6.2 into LabCraft’s quality assurance module. Together the companies have achieved seamless integration between the two systems. LabCraft administers spot checks, analysis, electronic requisitions and responses using KITH-XML, the storage of test data, selection and final conversion to SPC. Quality Analyst receives ready converted data to perform all the checks specified in Edition 6 of the Guidelines for the Transfusion Service in Norway. The solution was well received by the 2010 user forum, and is now in operation at our customers’ locations.
LabCraft-SPC enables customers to handle statistical process control in an automated and holistic manner, in one system. The solution can be used for, among other things, product control – where all producers of blood products must continually document that their products meet all regulatory requirements.
We have constructed LabCraft-SPC so that our customers can achieve this objective in a standardised manner, with as little manual effort as possible, and with as few sources of error as possible. Recognising that previous methods involving the manual entry of quality control data into separate statistical tools were both inefficient, time-consuming and represented a risk of input errors, all spot checks are performed using LabCraft’s familiar graphic interface. The program also ensures that the test samples are automatically sent for analysis and recorded in the laboratory and microbiology system.
In connection with the monthly quality reviews, LabCraft-SPC will automatically extract raw data from the LabCraft database, convert these to relevant measurement scales and deliver the converted data for plotting and analysis in QA, which is integrated into the LabCraft-SPC product.
After choosing the type of control and the required time interval, the converted data and instructions are delivered to QA, which neatly overlay’s LabCraft’s graphic interface with its plots and graphs. The entire process appears to the user as one cohesive unit.
LabCraft-SPC is the “motor” and the “boss”, automatically using QA as a tool for plotting, graphs, analysis, presentation and documentation of quality.
